When the cats away the mice will play!

I left the twins with Kevin this morning while I ran Lexi to preschool. This is what I came home to. So I guess he doesn't win the most observant dad of the year award but we'll keep him anyway.

Out of the mouth of babes!

Every Sunday (Except fast Sunday) our Bishop gives the kids Tootsie pops. He sits right outside the primary room and all the kids line up to get their sucker. Even our babies have figured out that all they have to do is walk up to the Bishop and he hold the jar down for them to grab it. The twins usually fall asleep on the way home. Well today our conversation went like this.... Cameron:" It's OK that I gave them their suckers, right?" Mom:"Yeah Cam, that's what I need is for them to be all sticky when they fall asleep!" Cameron:"really!" Lexi: In her exact words "she was being sarcastic Cam!" We all looked at each other for a minute than laughed. Cameron:"Lexi you don't even know what that means." Lexi: "yes huh. It means she was joking!

Trunk or treating!

Our ward had our trunk or treat tonight. It was great weather and the kids got tons of candy. I finally decided what to make the twins. I think it turned out pretty cute and they were a big hit. Camerons First Touchdown!!!

So Cameron got his first touchdown today. He has been improving all season and on our last game he finally did it. He is quite a bit smaller than most of the other players but he is so fast that no one can catch him. His coach has been working with him as a running back. The trick is to get his team to block so that he can get around the corner defence. Today it worked great and as planned he made it around the corner and no one could stop him. Then to make it even better he got another touchdown. Two in one game. In the first video he is the littlest one in the bottom right corner (#3). In the second video you will see him appear out of nowhere at the top of the field. He is so little that you can't even see him behind the other players until he makes his break and runs several yards down the field for another touchdown. This is the confidence that he has needed all season. To bad it had to wait for the last game. Oh well, we'll take it. He is excited because they do have their tournament next week. Keep your fingers crossed. Way to go Cam. We're proud of you. .....Tyler also had some awesome tackles today but they are not so easy to catch on camera since he plays defence and you never know when the ball is going to go his direction. He stopped a touchdown though so we are proud of him too! I will miss watching them play but not to worry... basketball starts next week!!! YIKES!

A Hyde Halloween!

This year Kevin and I (or I should say I) decided to have a Halloween party (Kevin just graciously agreed!). It was lots of fun and great company. It's funny because when I asked Kev about it he was adamant that he was not going to dress up. So what did we do today? We drove all over Lexington looking for the right make-up so that he could be an old grandpa. His beard ONLY took two hours. Next time he tries to tell me he's not into it I'll know better. We decided the teeth were fitting for Kentucky. Ashley helped me decorate a beautiful table for the food and the Home made root beer in my black Calderon added just the right touch. Red Ribbon Week!

This week is Red Ribbon Week at school so the kid were suppose to wear something that showed what they could do besides drugs. Here are my little athletes.

Picking Apples!

I guess Evans orchard is the place to be in October since I think all my friends here have pictures of Evans orchard on their blogs. We went with our awesome friends the Mendez family on Saturday. It was lots of fun. The kids had a blast on all the toys. There was a big slide, a"Rat Race", corn maze, tractor race, rope maze, hay castle, petting zoo and don't forget the yummy apples.

This is the tractor race. Kevin couldn't resist his competitive side so this is a picture of the boys getting ready to race.

The track was a figure 8 and somehow, Nate being Nate either didn't get the rules or decided to cheat and go around the wrong way. I'm not sure which is better...to think he didn't understand such simple directions or that he cheated. I'll let you decide. Needless to say he won!

Good news and Bad news!

The good news is Nathan got his cast off yesterday! He was so excited. When I went in to wake him up at 6:20 AM he bounced out of bed even before I could turn on the light. You can see in his face that He is thrilled at the Idea of not having a cast anymore.

Nate's Blue cast. GO WILD CATS!! TOOLS! The saw made him a little nervous but he did great! Splitting the cast open! Taking off the cast!OOH! GROSS!

The bad news is that his arm was not 100% so he has to wear a brace for another 3 weeks. His elbow was a little sore from not moving for 6 weeks so it kind of hurt him to move his arm. He said he didn't know it would hurt again and he wished he had the cast back on. He just thought it would feel perfectly normal. The more he moves it though the better it gets and the great thing (at least for me) is that he can take it off to shower and sleep! Yeah! No more plastic bags and spit baths. Unlike the first picture of excitement you can see that he is not thrilled about this. But like the cast he will get used to it and this wont slow him down one bit.

Mia likes to do things her own way. Instead of getting her two front teeth first she decided to wear fangs for a while. I am thinking about making her be a vampire for Halloween!!! After all, we all love vampires these days!!!

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Last Halloween she decide she wanted to be a Pirate! I wonder what she will come up with next year!

Mia has this thing with putting on whatever shoe happens to be laying around and gets really upset if she can't get it on or if it falls off. She will walk all over the house with one shoe. They also love the phone as you can tell in the video. They are so cute together. I just love their little personalities.

Laundry time!!!

Mia and Mason love to help me load the washing machine. The problem is they usually load it With ....themselves!! Mia thought it was great until Mason decided to join. Then I guess it got a little to crowded. Mason was happy to be on his own until the tub started moving!! He kind of freaked out at that and wanted out immediately. Maybe they will both be cured from climbing in the washer again.

The other day I was doing laundry and had just filled the washer. I then turned my back to sort more as I was still adding clothes to the load. Mason decide to help by pulling everything that I had just put in back out. When I turned back around there was a huge pile on the floor. It took me about two seconds to figure out that he was pulling them out with both hands and chucking them over his shoulders until the whole thing was empty again. When I said his name he just looked at me with those big blue eyes and giggled! What can you do but giggle back. I have to say that hope his desire to help with the laundry never goes away and yet it would be much faster if I didn't have to do everything twice!!!!

Sorry about the no clothes thing!! We had just finished baths. These days I feel I am lucky if they at least have diapers on!
